Talisay City dominates taekwondo competition

Talisay City athletes recently dominated the taekwondo competition of the Panaad Sportsfest, part of the ongoing Panaad sa Negros Festival.

Arthur Diaz and Norielle Mae Tabiera won gold in elementary kyorugi, or sparring; while Sheryl Shee Dela Cruz, Mary Joy Telequido, Hanica Balasabas, Rica Antonares, and Khint Khelly Tarucan earned gold in the secondary division.

Chrishanne Llerysh Garcia won a gold medal and was named ‘Best Player for Taekwondo’ in the secondary girls’ division, while Roniever Rogie Trocio earned the same title on the boys’ side.

In the poomsae competition, which is comprised of basic attack and defense motions associated with the martial art, John Radial Dela Rosa won gold in elementary category B and silver in category A.

Other winners included Charlie Subardiaga and Laura Therese Malacad, who won gold in the secondary division.

Meanwhile, Talisay City athletes also won in athletics with Kent John Elliot winning gold in elementary boys’ shot put and Cara Pearl Bacaro taking gold in the secondary girls’ 400 meter dash./PLL, WDJ
