A 54-year-old man was killed after he was hacked by his nephew late Wednesday evening at Sitio Bais in Barangay Yubo, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the fatality as Elorde Dionela, a resident of the said barangay.

La Carlota City lead investigator, Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1) Reymond Amejado, said the suspect, identified as Ryan Ventura-Dionela, arrived home drunk and became angry when his uncle reportedly stared at him.

The nephew confronted his uncle and picked up a bolo and hacked the victim repeatedly.

The elder Dionela was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but later died from the hack wounds sustained across his body.

The nephew, meanwhile, voluntarily surrendered to police as the family decides if they will file charges./DGB, WDJ
