The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) yesterday condemned the recent deadly shooting allegedly perpetrated by members of the New People’s Army-Special Partisan Unit (NPA-SPARU) in Isabela, Negros Occidental, which resulted in three deaths.

In a statement released by NOPPO spokesperson, Police Inspector Charmae De Paz, they denounced the atrocities committed by the suspected NPA-SPARU members.

She said the rebels were “clearly showing” their lack of concern for the safety of the community after they indiscriminately fired at a wake, wounding two other civilians, one of which was 10 years old.

De Paz appealed for public cooperation and support in order to maintain peace and order, and to prevent further acts of terrorism committed by the rebels.

Those killed in the attack were identified as Staff Sergeant Jose Joerito Amable, head of the Civil Security Group for Moises Padilla Mayor Magdaleno Peña; retired police Alejandro Borres; and a civilian identified as Pedirico Bitgue.

Police recovered 28 empty .45 caliber and 9mm shells from the crime scene./DGB, WDJ
