A man was arrested after he allegedly punched a police officer on Saturday morning during a gathering at Purok 1, Barangay Granada, Bacolod City.
Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Ronel Abdana, a resident of the said barangay.
Police Station 5 (PS5) commander, Police Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, said, around 2:00 a.m., Abdana reportedly began acting violently, prompting concerned residents to contact police for assistance.
Upon arrival, Police Officer 1 (PO1) Jerome Yanson, immediately tried to pacify the suspect; However, Abdana allegedly responded by punching the police officer.
Abdana was eventually subdued by other cops, who brought him to PS5.
Yanson, meanwhile, was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) after sustaining cuts to his eyebrow and nose.
Abdana said he was unaware Yanson was a police officer and claimed the cop was wearing civilian clothes during the incident.
The suspect is presently facing assault charges and is currently detained at PS5./DGB, WDJ
