A motorcyclist died after his vehicle struck a 10-wheeler cane truck at Hacienda Lourdes in Barangay Punta Mesa, Manapla, Negros Occidental, late Wednesday evening.

Police identified the fatality as 20-year-old Christian Lucero, a resident of Barangay Santa Teresa in the said town.

Manapla municipal police traffic investigator, Police Officer 2 (PO2) Windred Tubida, said the truck was parked along the outer lane of the highway due to a mechanical problem, when Lucero’s motorcycle hit the truck.

Witnesses said the force of the impact completely mangled the motorcycle.

Lucero was declared dead on arrival at the Immaculate Concepcion Hospital in Victorias City due to multiple injuries.

Tubida, meanwhile, traced the truck’s owner to Sagay City, who has yet to come forward since the accident.

Police are presently conducting a manhunt operation against the truck driver./DGB, WDJ
