Governor: The scholars will spread Christianity in Japan

A total of 10 senior high school students from across Negros Occidental left earlier this week for Japan, where they will be studying general health and automotive studies at Miyakonojo Higashi High School on a three-year scholarship from the Negros Occidental provincial government.

Prior to their departure, the students studied Nihongo and Japanese culture at the Organization for Industrial, Spiritual, and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) Training Center in Bago City.

During a farewell dinner, Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. said the opportunity is a chance for the scholars to help their families and spread Christianity in Japan.

“We are just instruments of God’s purpose,” he explained.

The student include Al Edmar Abad of Dr. Antonio Lizares Memorial High School, Krizzel Mae Do-oma of Doña Montserat Lopez Memorial High School, Johanna Rica Lorenzo of Sagay National High School, Megumi Cleo Gelogo of Negros Occidental High School, Anthony Esteban of Murcia National High School, Nicole Marie Bersales of Sagay National High School, Darlyn Blancia of Sofronio Carmona Memorial National High School, Joanna Marie Villanueva of Sagay National High School, Leah Marie Encabo of Sagay National High School, and Reynaldo Victorama, Jr. of Ramon Torres Dulao National High School./WDJ
