The Iloilo City Sport Divisions’ Pag-ulikid sang Syudad sa Kabataan program, a free summer sports program, begins its run next week, from April 9 to 15, at all district public plazas and at SM City Iloilo from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“I would like to encourage parents to let their children be [involved] in sports, so they can discover new things and find [a] new set of friends,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III. “Through sports, they can learn how to be honest, reliable, and helpful to others.”
“The most important advantage [from] sports is the development of physical and mental ability,” he added.
The event will include lessons in arnis, wushu, taekwondo, volleyball, basketball, football, lawn tennis, jiu-jitsu, chess, table tennis, and karatedo.
Meanwhile, City Sports Division officer-in-charge Moises Salomon is expecting over 2,000 participants this year./WDJ
