Secretary highlights Western Visayas

Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo recently discussed the concept of “faith tourism,” especially with the Philippines being the only predominantly Roman Catholic country in Asia.

“The Philippines, diverse as it is in religion, and recorded as the biggest catholic country in Asia, has many facets of development that will further boost our visitor arrivals,” she explained. “DOT is poised to go full swing on piloting emerging faith tourism destinations this year.”

The cabinet official also made note of the ongoing Holy Week observances in the Western Visayas, pointing out Bacolod City, Talisay City, and Valladolid all provide visitors with unique experiences.

Tulfo-Teo also noted historic churches in Silay City and Cadiz City.

Meanwhile, she also pointed out the latest initiative will “pave the way for the creation of more jobs and needed revenue for our country.”/WDJ
