Following the House of Representatives Committee on Population and Family Relations approving a divorce bill for deliberation, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Jr., yesterday indicated President Rodrigo Duterte has no comment on the matter.
He made note of an earlier interview, where the president affirmed his position opposing divorce; however, the spokesperson said Duterte will “leave it to Congress.”
According to technical working group head, Albay first district Rep. Edcel Lagman, the bill was consolidated with other legislation pertaining to the Reproductive Health Law, resulting in a compromise Reproductive Health and Responsible Parenthood Law.
Last year, the Diocese of Bacolod spoke out in opposition to the divorce bill, calling it “ungodly.”/PLL, WDJ
