The amount provided by the Iloilo City government for fire victims was recently increased, with assistance for those with completely destroyed homes increased from P5,000 to P7,000 and those with partially damaged homes up from P2,500 to P3,500.
“We have allotted additional financial assistance because we know affected families really need help during [those] difficult times,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III. “We hope the assistance will be a big support for them to start again.”
City Hall will release the funds once they receive a verified list of affected families from the City Social Welfare and Development Office, which also provides relief goods and basic necessities to displaced families.
Most recently, a fire struck the Arevalo district of Iloilo City, where, according to the most recent report, a total 62 homes were completely destroyed by fire, while another 293 were partially damaged./WDJ
