The Iloilo Provincial Board passed a resolution yesterday condemning the death of slain overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Joanna Daniela Demafelis, who was found dead inside a freezer while working abroad in Kuwait.

The resolution, authored by Board Member Jeneda Salcedo-Orendain, also called on the national government to “exert diligent efforts to bring justice to the perpetrators of the crime.”

Recent reports revealed the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) is conducting an investigation into her suspected murder. The primary suspects in the case are her employers, a Lebanese man and his Syrian wife, who have since fled Kuwait.

The provincial body also demanded the Kuwaiti government gather evidence and conduct a speedy trial against the suspects.

Meanwhile, Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. released P100,000 in burial assistance to the victim’s family yesterday./WDJ
