A Chinese national was killed after he was accidentally hit in the head by a boat propeller in Apo Island, Negros Oriental, Saturday.

Authorities identified the victim as 43-year-old Yong Thai Hang.

Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Commander, Lieutenant Junior Grade Donna Liza Ramacho, said, based on initial investigations, Hang was scuba diving when he was struck by a boat propeller.

Hang was rushed to the Silliman University Medical Center in Dumaguete City, where he was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff due to massive head injuries.

Ramacho, meanwhile, said they are still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine if Hang’s death was in fact an accident, questioning how and why the propeller hit the victim./DGB, WDJ
