Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia lauded the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) for its effective anti-drug campaign after the city’s police force was recognized for making the most illegal drug arrests.
Leonardia said the number of arrests should not be treated as the worst as it should be looked upon as a “positive development.”
The mayor said illegal drugs are a big problem in society and affirmed his support of President Rodrigo Duterte’s anti-drug campaign.
Leonardia also confirmed he received information regarding the recent seizure of P1.2 million worth of shabu, saying the name of one of the suspects is “very familiar.”
He added, BCPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, should continue the campaign in eliminating the drug menace.
From December 5, 2017 to January 28, 2018, the BCPO conducted a total 59 operations, resulting in the arrest of 109 drug personalities.
The drug personalities include one high-value target and 15 street level targets./DGB, WDJ
