The Bacolod City government recently installed three fluorescent lamps on the raised crosswalk along Lacson Street in Bacolod City’s Barangay Mandalagan in response to reports of an attempted rape that recently took place along the pathway.

According to reports, the lamps have been functioning since Saturday.

As of press time, the city government has yet to explain why lights were not already installed and were only prompted after such an incident took place.

Last week, an 18-year-old escaped an attempted rape by two men.

One of the assailants was reportedly only wearing an underwear, while the other tried unbuttoning the victim’s shirt. However, the victim managed to fight back, striking one of the attackers in the groin, forcing them to let go.

The Bacolod City Police Office, meanwhile, have conducted more police patrols in the area to prevent similar incidents./JJA, WDJ
