Local transport group, the United Negros Drivers and Operators Center (UNDOC), is demanding a P6 discount on fuel for all public utility vehicles (PUVs) instead of asking for a fare hike.
UNDOC Secretary-General Diego Malacad said their group supports the call by Pinagkaisang Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (Piston), which is pushing for the said discount.
Malacad explained, the move is being pursued instead of “burdening” passengers with higher fares.
“The P6 discount will only [be] for vehicles consuming 20 to 30 liters of fuel per day, while those [that] consume more than 30 liters per day will only avail P6 for [their] first 30 liters of consumption,” Malacad said.
He added, the reason they did not file a petition related to higher fuel prices was due to inefficiency by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Region VI (LTFRB-6) in handling their previous concerns.
“We would like to leave it to Piston because concerns are immediately addressed [on] the national level,” he added./DGB, WDJ
