After being asked to serve as referee for a supposed boxing bout planned between Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo and Negros Oriental third district Rep. Arnulfo Teves, Jr., Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Remollo called for unity.
“Instead of fighting each other and debating on personal matters, I sincerely believe it is high time that we moderate in a roundtable discussion for the benefit of our constituents,” he appealed.
Remollo added, with the ongoing debate over the transition to federalism, cooperation among elected officials is important as amendments to the Constitution must be debated and agreed upon.
The mayor learned about the fight after hearing the invitation from Teves to serve as referee on a radio program recently.
Degamo recently returned to office after being granted a temporary restraining order by the Court of Appeals, which blocked the most recent dismissal order by the Office of the Ombudsman./PLL, WDJ
