The Bacolod City Solid Waste Action Team, which is in charge of monitoring waste management in the city, recently submitted a list of 24 barangays found in violation of the ‘No Segregation, No Collection’ policy to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environment Management Board (DENR-EMB).
According to Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, who chairs the team, a liability is carried with the communities’ respective barangay officials, who failed to cooperate with the city policy.
The communities cited include Barangays 1, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 20, 22, 24, 35, 38, 39, 40, Cabug, Estefania, Granada, Alijis, Mandalagan, Banago, Mansilingan, Villamonte, Taculing, and Singcang-Airport.
Last week, the Solid Waste Enforcers and Educators Team said nine Bacolod City barangays were cited in violation of the city’s waste segregation order; meanwhile, prior to that, Familiaran revealed, about five percent of Bacolod City is complying with the said policy.
At the time, Barangays 8, 13, 38, Taculing, Villamonte, and Singcang Airport had already been reported to the DENR./PLL, WDJ
