A pickpocketer went viral on social media yesterday after allegedly victimizing a senior citizen at Bangga Ramos, along Lacson Street in Bacolod City.
In a video posted by Arthur Mendoza, an old woman is shown inside a Bata-Libertad jeepney looking for her wallet, which had already been swiped by the woman sitting next to her.
When the old woman asked the suspect to move in order to see if she had dropped her wallet, the suspect initially refused. The victim then shoved the suspect until she spotted her wallet in the latter’s possession.
The suspect claimed the wallet belonged to her and threw it out of the vehicle.
Passengers tried stopping the suspect from leaving, but she was able to escape.
In response to the video, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, said police operatives are currently hunting down the suspect to prevent her from victimizing more people.
She said the suspect currently remains unidentified and checks on rogue galleries at Police Stations 2 and 3 have come up negative.
The police officer concluded the suspect may be a newly-identified thief.
Vargas also urged the senior citizen to surface and visit Police Station 2 in order to file a complaint against the suspect./DGB, WDJ
