Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco yesterday revealed the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has provided an additional P60 million, intended for the Kabankalan City Airport runway. In addition to the P30 million earmarked by the government agency last year, the airport currently has P90 million in national government funding.
The mayor added, the provincial government has already allocated P30 million for the project, while the city has provided P50 million, in addition to the national government allotment.
Earlier this week, Zayco urged the DOTr to fast track the program of work for the Kabankalan City Airport as it will impact the construction schedule of the facility.
“It is up to the DOTr on how they can fast track the [program of work] and the detailed engineering works,” the mayor said in an interview over the weekend. “We are preparing the airport for the future.”/DGB, WDJ
