According to Provincial Chief of Hospitals, Dr. Leonardo Eusebio, a recent re-evaluation of Negros Occidental hospitals found an additional 1,335 medical personnel are needed at government hospitals across the province.
He pointed out, the additional personnel would cover newly-upgraded hospitals as many offer additional bed capacity.
Eusebio highlighted Silay City’s Teresita Locsin Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, where they are short by 276 medical staff, among them include a need for 34 doctors and 82 nurses.
The provincial official added, Provincial Budget Officer Jose Percival Salado, Jr. is currently working on providing additional salaries, however, he is also looking to ensure the government does not exceed its budget as it would risk the additional allocation being disallowed by the Department of Budget and Management./DGB, WDJ
