Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) was named the Visayas champions of the 2018 Akari National High School Championship over the weekend, defeating Central Philippine University (CPU), 25-23, 17-25, 25-19, 25-18, at the Ateneo de Iloilo gym.

Among the individual honors, BTTHS picked up five awards, Marianne Sotomil won best setter, Joan Monares was named best middle blocker, Alyssa Bertolano took best opposite spiker, and Shane Carmona won both most valuable player and best spiker.

BTTHS Vice President for Sports Jose Montalbo said the event provided the player confidence ahead of the upcoming 2018 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association meet./JSG, WDJ
