The head of the security office at the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol, Venchito Magalona, was recently named president of Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees (PACE) union.
He encouraged other provincial employees to join the union, saying membership offers access to their health insurance program and burial benefits.
Last July, Magalona initiated a crackdown on unlicensed firearms after a number of guards employed by contractors in charge of security at the Provincial Capitol were caught with fake documents for their guns.
PACE is expected to hold a general assembly on January 28, where the board will elect a new set of officers.
Magalona takes over for Alfredo Dinoy of the Provincial Budget Office, who earlier announced his retirement./PLL, WDJ
