Familiaran: Only 5% of Bacolod City is segregating garbage

Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran yesterday revealed five percent of Bacolod City is complying with the city’s waste segregation order, despite the ‘No Segregation, No Collection’ policy.
The vice mayor noted, most in compliance were businesses.
He also specified, Barangays 8, 13, 38, Taculing, Villamonte, and Singcang Airport have already been reported to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR); while a total 13 barangays were found to be in violation.
Meanwhile, the Solid Waste Enforcers and Educators Team, which is responsible for apprehension operations, has temporarily ceased operations. Familiaran said during a recent meeting of the Solid Waste Action Team, the enforcement group still needs to undergo trainings with the DENR Environmental Management Bureau./NC, WDJ
