The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) yesterday reported around 1,152.75 grams of illegal drugs were seized in 2017, which the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) valued at P11,532,194.10.

According to BCPO spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, the recovery of the said drugs made a “very big effect” on local drug dealers and suppliers.

She pointed out, when President Rodrigo Duterte initiated the aggressive campaign against illegal drugs in 2016, the price of illegal drugs steadily climbed as the supply had been cut on the street level.

Vargas added, of the 296 anti-drug operations carried out in 2017, 667 people were arrested, with 616 cases subsequently filed./DGB, WDJ
