Following earlier reports linking former Ceres-Negros FC midfielder Iain Ramsay with a move to Thai League 1 club Prachuap FC, an official confirmed he will be joining Malaysia Premier League club Felda United FC, whom Ceres met in last year’s Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup group stage.
According to Felda United media officer Sam Festo, Ramsay is currently in Malaysia and training with the club.
Reports out of Malaysia claim Ramsay’s decision may have been influenced by Australian compatriots playing in the Malaysia Super League, a division above the Premier League, including Pahang FA’s Matthew Davies and Brendan Gan, who joined Perak TBG FC this season, following a stint with another Super League club, Kelantan FA.
Meanwhile, aside from signing goalkeeper Antonio ‘Toni’ Doblas and defender Sean Patrick Kane, the Negrense club has also signed defender Amani Aguinaldo and striker Takumi Uesato.
Aguinaldo, who is currently on injury, was signed from Global Cebu FC; while Uesato, like Kane, arrived from JPV Marikina FC, both of their former clubs compete in the Philippines Football League alongside Ceres FC.
Next week, on January 16, Ceres is scheduled to meet Shan United FC of Myanmar in the 2018 AFC Champions League qualifying play-offs./JSG, WDJ
