The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) called this year’s holiday celebrations “generally peaceful” and, noted, the ceasefire declared by government forces and the New People’s Army (NPA) held without any incident.

In an email sent by NOPPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, Jr., he said, “I am glad that our intensified campaign on ‘Ligtas Paskuhan 2017’ [had] a peaceful outcome.”

The NOPPO chief also praised police personnel for a “job well done” in carrying out their responsibilities throughout the holidays.

He also expressed his appreciation for both the private and public sectors for their full support and cooperation.

Meanwhile, NOPPO recorded zero incidents of indiscriminate firing during the holiday celebrations, as compared to five recorded last year./DGB, WDJ
