Newly-installed Philippine Army 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) commander, Brigadier General Dinoh Dolina, said he is open to facilitating localized peace talks between the local government and the New People’s Army (NPA).

During assumption rites at Camp General Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz, last week, he said local government units should pursue peace talks with the rebels and the army is more than willing to help in the negotiation process.

Dolina also urged the NPA to surrender, pointing out the army is always ready to fight.

His first marching order as 3ID commander was for troops to neutralize rebels within his jurisdiction by 2019.

Dolina replaced Major General Jon Aying, who retired last December 31.
