The Kami ang Mabulig sa Inyo-Saligan Utod Naton sa Oras sang Ital-ital (KAMI-SUNOI) organization, based in Binalbagan, was recently named 2nd Best People’s Organization at the 19th National Gawad Kalasag, an event organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

“We are proud of them,” said Information Officer Kathleen Aguirre.

The group seeks to empower out-of-school youth and others by involving them in clean-up drives, blood-letting programs, among other events.

Some members have also been trained as emergency responders.

The group has around 1,600 members throughout Binalbagan./WDJ
