Parade of Lights contest scheduled

 

The Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. (IDFI) recently announced the Parade of Lights, a float contest, is scheduled to take place on January 27, beginning at 7:00 p.m. until midnight.

The contest is open to all organizations, including businesses, local government units, barangays, schools, among others; and will be divided into small and big float categories.

Small floats are expected to be a minimum 5’5” in height and width, and 12’ in length; while maximum dimensions are 8’ in height and width, and 15’ in length. For big floats, structures are expected to be a minimum 10’ feet in height and width, and 20’ in length; with maximum dimensions of 12’ in height and width, and 40’ in length.

Floats are expected to depict a scene, featuring a group of people, motionless figures, or animated designs, and carry a theme in line with Dinagyang@50: Timeless Tradition, Culture and Devotion. The participating group’s name and logo, together with the 50th Dinagyang Festival logo, should also be prominently displayed. In addition, drum and bugle corps, military or fatigue uniforms, motorcycles, horses, animals, indecent attire and similar images, and political advertisements or campaign materials are not allowed.

Entries must be decorated with paper, wood, flowers, or other indigenous materials. Meanwhile, gas-fueled lamps or similar lanterns and fireworks are prohibited.

The registration deadline is at 2:00 p.m. on January 13./WDJ
