With President Rodrigo Duterte earlier allowing the reentry of the Philippine National Police (PNP) into the ongoing war on illegal drugs, Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) director, Police Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, revealed community surveys are being utilized in order to assure residents of credibility among law enforcement.
He explained, surveys are distributed throughout various communities where locals provide information on individuals who may be of questionable integrity.
“Everybody – even me, I subject myself to validation,” Binag affirmed. “There is no excuse because the question here is the credibility of the police.”
He said, so far, 42 of 50 operatives have passed such a screening.
Binag noted, the survey also received praise from Malacañan Palace.
Earlier this month, PRO-6 released new guidelines with regard to the campaign against illegal drugs, which included the community-selected Drug Enforcement Unit/Team, wherein selected individuals will undergo training; along with refresher courses on police operational procedure, human rights, evidence handling, among other topics./PLL, WDJ
