The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) recently announced they would be intensifying their ‘Oplan Iwas Paputok’ campaign, which seeks to reduce the number of firecracker-related injuries and deaths.
NOPPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, Jr., said law enforcement will be particularly firm with those who violate RA 7183, or the Firecrackers and Pyrotechnics Regulation Act; and Executive Order No. 28, signed earlier this year by President Rodrigo Duterte, which regulates the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnics.
“Manufacturers of illegal fireworks and firecrackers will be strictly monitored by the PNP,” he added.
The NOPPO chief also reiterated they will be monitoring firearms owners, in order to ensure there are no stray bullet incidents.
“Those who will fire their firearms indiscriminately, whether uniformed personnel or civilian, will face appropriate charges,” the agency said in a release./NC, WDJ
