A construction worker was killed, while another was wounded, after being hacked by an unidentified suspect at Sitio Kanangkaan in Barangay General Luna, Toboso, Negros Occidental on Monday.

The fatality was identified as 38-year-old Fidel Devera, a resident of Barangay Panlaan in Dumanjog, Cebu; while 31-year-old Renato Mellorida of Barangay Badiang in Inabanga, Bohol was seriously wounded.

According to an initial investigation by the Toboso Municipal Police Station, the victims were walking to the Aranaz compound when an unidentified person attacked and hacked them using a bladed weapon, commonly referred to as “espading.”

Mellorida was brought to the hospital for medical treatment.
