In response to an earlier request by Executive Assistant Ernie Pineda, 41 Bacolod City barangays have passed resolutions designating a Community Fireworks Display Designated Area (CFDA) in their respective neighborhoods.
During a press conference yesterday morning, Pineda reiterated a previous call by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and the Bacolod City government for barangay captains to strictly adhere to Executive Order No. 28, signed earlier this year by President Rodrigo Duterte, which regulates the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnics.
Besides the 41, Pineda noted, Barangays 26, Alijis, Villamonte, Vista Alegre, and Taculing either have yet to pass a CFDA or are still in the process of determining a location within their jurisdiction for one.
He added, they have each one week to pass a resolution.
Pineda also named fireworks permitted in a CFDA, namely Baby Rocket, Bawang, El Diablo, Judas’ Belt, Paper Caps, Pulling of Strings, Kwitis, and “Small” Triangulo. In addition, the executive assistant named pyrotechnics permitted in residential areas, ones that are quiet and produce lights; these included Butterfly, Fountain, Luces, Roman Candle, Sparklers, Jumbo Regular and Special, Mabuhay, Trompillo, Whistle Device, and other variations of “Pailaw.”
He also reiterated, violators of the firecracker order face fines from P20,000 to P30,000 and could be served a one to six years prison sentence.
BCPO operations and planning unit deputy, Police Chief Inspector Lester Leada, meanwhile, encouraged the public to take videos and pictures of individuals who violate the order and report the incident to the nearest police station.
Leada added, every CFDA must be accessible to fire trucks and emergency vehicles before approval./DGB, WDJ
