The Local Economic and Investments Promotion Office (LEIPO) held the First Robotics Training Workshop last week at the Iloilo City Diamond Jubilee Hall.

“This is just an introduction to robotics,” said LEIPO head Ritchel Gavan. “Iloilo has been identified as one of first digital cities in the Philippines by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and this workshop boosts that.”

“This is a sort of awareness to the public that robotics is not only available outside the Philippines,” she added.

The event saw around 250 junior and senior high school students taking part, trying out Alpha 1Pro and Jimu Robots.

The event was also part of the Iloilo Innovation, or “ILOVATION,” campaign./WDJ
