An early morning fire destroyed a house at Sitio Sumulog in Barangay Bulwangan, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

In an interview with Senior Fire Officer 1 (SFO1) Marilou Dela Cruz, San Carlos City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) fire marshall, she said they received a call around 4:32 a.m. reporting a fire was taking place in the area.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and were able to control the blaze in minutes.

Dela Cruz said arson investigators immediately conducted an investigation after a “fire out” was declared and discovered the blaze was caused by an electrical short circuit.

Investigators also estimated damages at P100,000.

Following the blaze, Dela Cruz advised city residents to follow the correct installation of electrical wiring, especially as many homes are currently decorated for the Christmas season./DGB, WDJ
