A motorist was arrested after he was caught with a firearm and ammunition at a checkpoint at Bangga Mallorca in Barangay 13, Victorias City, Negros Occidental, Tuesday afternoon.

Police Superintendent German Garbosa, chief of the Victorias City Police Station, identified the suspect as 27-year-old John Rey Hilado.

According to police reports, Victorias City police apprehended Hilado, who was operating a Honda XRM 125 motorcycle with plate number SS9186, which was registered to an Indian national.

The police seized one Smith and Wesson magnum .357 caliber revolver, which was without a serial number; and  loaded with six live units of ammunition.

Six additional  live units of ammunition were recovered from the suspect’s pants pocket.

Hilado was placed in the custodial facility at the Victorias City Police Station after he failed to present legal documents proving ownership of the said firearm./NC, WDJ
