Three fishermen apprehended off the coast of Concepcion

The Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force recently apprehended three fishermen off the coast of Concepcion, Iloilo after they were caught trawl fishing, when a fishing net is dragged across the bottom of the sea, which is a violation of RA 10654, or the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998.

According to task force leader, Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1) Gilbert Piedad, the three fishermen, identified as Randy De La Cruz of Estancia, and Gerald and Eugene Ascura of Barangay Igbon, Concepcion, were arrested aboard motorboats, the Princess Bebes, Quennie-1, and Quennie-5.

The three boats were impounded, which were later retrieved by their owners, Rodito Albarquez and Eduardo Ascura, after they paid P30,000 to the Concepcion municipal government./JAN, WDJ
