The Dumangas municipal police and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) retrieved five bodies off
the coast of the town’s Barangay Bacay on Saturday.
The five were part of a group of seven teenagers on a swimming excursion.
Authorities identified the five as Ken Segura, Voltaire Jade Derutas, Stephen Lopez, Carlo
Lopez, and Roger Derutas.
According to Police Inspector Rene Gamuyao Obregon, Jr. of the Dumangas Municipal Police
Station, the swimmers were caught off guard by waves that rapidly grew in size.
In response, Dumangas Mayor Ronaldo Golez ordered the installation of signs along the
coastline warning of potential danger./WDJ
