The PDP-Laban oath-taking for Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr., scheduled to take place next week, December 1, was rescheduled for next year.
According to the governor, the change was due to the availability of House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.
“He requested that we hold the ceremony after Christmas,” said Defensor. “We will do it before Dinagyang.”
Back in August, the governor, who served as provincial chairman for the Liberal Party, claimed he received an open invitation from Alvarez, who was in Iloilo to officiate the oath of allegiance for over 4,000 Iloilo officials joining the ruling party.
The following month, after confirming his decision to switch allegiances, he insisted, “You cannot accuse me of being an opportunist, I was invited.”/WDJ
