A skull was recovered by police after it was spotted at Rizal Proper, Barangay Rizal in Silay City, Negros Occidental yesterday morning.

Silay City police chief, Police Superintendent Noel Polines, said they received a call from residents after one of the garbage men, who were in the area to collect waste from nearby homes, found the skull covered in a plastic bag.

When investigators interviewed the local residents, they stated an unknown individual, believed to be suffering from a mental illness, was seen in the area holding the plastic bag where the skull was found.

Polines said investigators also found the skull had traces of candle wax and suspects the individual was using the skull as a candle holder.

The city police chief further suspects the skull was stolen from the city’s cemetery./DGB, WDJ
