Two people were injured after their tricycle was bumped by two unidentified vehicles along the national highway in Barangay 1, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental early Monday morning.
Police identified the victims as 51-year-old Kester Dela Peña, tricycle driver and resident of the said barangay; and Raymond Sumugat, 19, a laborer and resident of Barangay San Antonio in the said city.
Traffic investigators from the Himamaylan City Police Station said the victims were heading south when they bumped the rear of an unknown vehicle.
Dela Peña swerved to the left and overturned the tricycle.
The tricycle was then bumped by another vehicle, presumed to be a truck, which was running in the opposite direction.
Instead of providing assistance, both vehicles sped away, leaving the two injured victims on the side of the road.
The two were later rushed to the Governor Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in Himamaylan City and were later transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City after medical staff determined their injuries required further treatment.
Himamaylan City police are presently trying to identify the plate numbers of the two other vehicles./DGB, WDJ
