An 18-year-old Japanese woman was rushed to a hospital in Dumaguete City after she was reportedly assaulted by an unidentified suspect in Barangay Calindangan, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental earlier this week.

Dumaguete City police refused to identify the Japanese national, although they confirmed she was temporarily residing at an apartment building in the said barangay.

An investigation by city police found the victim was returning home when she was blocked by the suspect.

The suspect grabbed her arm and slashed at the victim 18 times before she escaped.

The victim was later rushed to a hospital for treatment and was discharged the same day.

Police are still conducting a follow-up investigation into the motives of the suspect as the assailant did not take any items from the victim during the assault./DGB, WDJ
