The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) reported another decline in the city crime rate, a trend that has been recorded over the past several weeks.
Between October 27 and November 2 of this year, the office recorded 32 incidents, compared to 81 from the same period last year, constituting a 60.49 percent drop.
“There was a decrease in crime incidents during this period because we celebrated All Saints’ [Day] and All Souls’ Day,” said ICPO operations chief, Police Superintendent Jowel Saliba. “There was maximum police deployment and police visibility, not only in cemeteries, but also [at] terminals, piers, and malls.”
In their previous report, the ICPO reported a 66 percent drop in the crime rate between October 16 and 22, 2017 as compared to the same period last year.
Saliba previously credited the drop to “enhanced managing patrol operations, wherein we monitor the peculiarity of incidents per station.”/WDJ
