Two suspected New People’s Army (NPA) leaders were recently arrested by members of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) and the Philippine Army in Bago City.
Police identified the two suspected rebel leaders as Aurora ‘Lilay’ Cayon, a supposed NPA finance commission leader; and Louie Antonio Martinez, reportedly a logistics leader for the NPA.
Reports released by GMA News said cops recovered a .45 caliber pistol, a grenade, several magazines, and ammunition from the two suspects.
The two were also arrested based on previous warrants, issued last October 19, and were presented yesterday to Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa at PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Metro Manila.
Dela Rosa said Cayon held several high positions in the CPP-NPA, including executive committee member, finance head of Komiteng Mindanao, second deputy secretary of Southern Mindanao Regional Committee, and second deputy secretary of Northeastern Mindanao./DGB, WDJ
