Bacolod City Councilor Ricardo Tan discussed President Rodrigo Duterte’s visit to Bacolod City this past weekend for the MassKara Festival, saying it was a reminder of the president’s “no nonsense” campaign.
“His presence in the city has reminded us of his no nonsense campaign to get rid of corruption and illegal drugs,” the city councilor said. “We are all behind you in your campaign against these social menaces.”
Duterte addressed the issue during his speech, noting, “There are now millions of Filipinos contaminated with drugs.”
He also justified his administration’s actions in the ongoing war on drugs.
“Ang binabasa ninyo ‘yung ilan ang namatay sa drug war and you make a conclusion na it is an extrajudicial killing (You read about the number killed from the drug war, and you conclude they are extrajudicial killings),” the president stated. “Yet, you don’t ask why they are dead?”
He went on to explain the negative effects of drugs, mentioning drug addicts raping female members of their families as an example, and the need to eliminate it; referring to it as “a social problem.”
Back in April, Tan announced plans for a congressional run in 2019./PLL, WDJ
