During the recent government expo and trade fair at the SMX Convention Center at SM City Bacolod, coordinated by the Kabisig People’s Movement (Kabisig), an organization that oversees the implementation of national projects and programs, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue Officer Analiza Brito discussed the easier registration process for new businesses.

She encouraged new businesses to register, noting any government-issued identification with the applicant’s birthdate and a mayor’s permit are the only requirements for registration.

Brito added, if the application does not have a tax identification number (TIN), one can be provided by the BIR.

Once the annual P500 registration fee if paid, she explained, a certificate of registration will be released the next day.

Meanwhile, for corporate businesses, applicants must present a photocopy of their Securities and Exchange Commission certificate.

However, both applicants are required to complete BIR form 1906.

Brito also pointed out, tax seminars are held every Wednesday.

The Kabisig Philippine Government Expo and Trade Fair, as described by Kabisig Chair Daniel Guillen, is a “one-stop government information exhibit helping people to learn and appreciate the government.”

Alongside the BIR, around 40 private and government agencies also joined the expo, including the Clark Development Corporation, the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

Victorias City, San Carlos City, and Bacolod City were also among the local government units that took part in the event./WDJ
