The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) apprehended at least 100 motorists in violation of the newly-implemented ‘no plate, no travel’ policy, in place throughout the remainder of the ongoing MassKara Festival.
According to BCPO Police Community Relations (PCR) head, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, 48 motorcyclists were cited for operating without a helmet, 17 had an expired driver’s license, four had expired vehicle registration, and 10 were without the receipt-certificate of registration for their vehicle.
16 motorcycles were impounded for open mufflers and five others were caught on minor traffic violations.
Vargas appealed for continued understanding and cooperation with regard to security and safety measures being implemented.
Earlier, Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) director, Police Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, ordered the BCPO to intercept vehicles without license plates or are violating traffic regulations./DGB, WDJ
