Greyhound operations, or random searches of jail facilities, were recently conducted at both the Metro Bacolod District Jail (MBDJ) and the Talisay City Jail.
During a search of the MBDJ special intensive care area, officers recovered lighters, a metal ladle, belts and ties, tin cans, scissors, a glue gun, cigarettes, among other items.
According to a release, the items found are considered “minor contraband.”
“Our inmates here are really cooperative,” said Jail Officer I and Information Officer Jasmin Batadlan. “We have their participation and we conduct frequent dialogues with their representatives.”
MBDJ warden, Jail Superintendent Larry Fuentes, said the facility has undergone searches under both Oplan Greyhound and Oplan Linis Piitan, another search operation conducted by jail officials.
All 19 dorms within the MBDJ were searched.
Meanwhile, similar operations were conducted at the Talisay City Jail recently.
Warden, Jail Inspector Romeo Jamandre Eyoy, reported all inmate quarters were subject to search.
He added, the facility is looking to win the Red Orchid Award, which declares a “no smoking zone” within a 100-meter perimeter of the facility.
The Talisay City Jail has previously been named ‘Best City Jail’ in the now-defunct Negros Island Region./PLL, WDJ
