A Mabinay Municipal Police Station police officer was killed after his service firearm accidentally discharged, early Wednesday morning.
According to police, 28-year-old Police Officer 1 (PO1) Jay Ramel Nogra, a resident of Barangay Poblacion in the Negros Oriental municipality, was killed after losing control of the motorcycle he was operating.
Mabinay municipal police investigators said, after losing control of his motorcycle, he crashed, which caused his Glock 9mm service arm to discharge, striking him in the head.
Police officers rushed him to the Mabinay Community Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.
Local law enforcement have ruled out any foul play in the incident as his firearm was still in his holster when he was found./WDJ
