“Magical MassKara,” the display of floating tableaus, or artistic arrangements, depicting the MassKara Festival unveiled at the Bacolod City Government Center fountain area over the weekend, dubbed “Bayle sa MassKara,” is a tribute to the MassKara dancer, according to festival director Eli Francis Tajanlangit.
“For this year’s public art installation, we [turned] to our award-winning choreographers,” he said. “[They] define the face and form of the MassKara Festival.”
Among the choreographers who contributed work to the installation include Emiljune ‘Tata’ Bantolo, who won a dance competition on ABS-CBN noontime show “It’s Showtime” and was the grand champion in the 2008 MassKara Street and Arena Dance Competition; Joedem Casabuena, who won the MassKara Streetdance competition from 2014 to 2016 with Barangay Granada; Segundo Jesus ‘Panoy’ Cabalcar, Jr., who has won the most MassKara championships with 21; and William Bangcaya, Jr., who choreographed the 2008 MassKara Streetdance competition grand champion Barangay Bata.
The installation will be on display until October 22./WDJ
